Anemone Sylvestris Grower Fact

Anemone Sylvestris

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Life Cycle:Perennial

Familiy, Origin:Ranunculaceae, Mid and South Europe, Caucasus, Siberia

Sitelocation:Partial shade - shade

Garden Height:40 cm£¬15,75 inch

Natural flowertime:May - June

Crop Time:Plug crop: 6-8 weeks; Green pots: 20-24 weeks; Flowering pots: 12-14 months, with vernalization

Seed Form:Cleaned Seed

Seed Count:2326 K/g

Sowing Method:3-5 seeds per plug

Germination:12-18 days at 15-18¡ãC in media with low soluble salt levels and pH: 6.0-7.0.Cover seed lightly with vermiculite after sowing. Requires light for germination. Keep soil slightly moist but not wet. Avoid direct sunlight by shading seeds after sowing.

Plug Culture:From Stage II* reduce the soil moisture, but the plug should not dry out and reduce the temperature to 15 ¡ãC. Do not let soluble salt level rise above 0,50 EC. Start fertilization at 50 ppm nitrogen in a well balanced formula. During Stage III and Stage IV fertilization levels can be increased up to 150 ppm.

Growing On:4-6 weeks after sowing transplant 3-5 plants into a pot (8-15 cm). Avoid root damage.

Media:Use a well-drained, growing perennial substrate with 0-15 % clay, 0-15 % organic parts (e.g. wood fibres, bark) 1-1,5 kg/m3 complete balanced fertilizer, 1-2 kg/m3 slow release fertilizer (3-9 months), iron-chelate, micronutrients, pH: 6.0-7.0.

Photoperiod / Light:Day length neutral plant. Flowerings pot production in winter and spring with additional assimilation light will improve the plant quality.

Temperature:Grow at 12-15 ¡ãC or outdoors. In winter indoors frost free at 3-5 ¡ãC or outdoors. Outdoor fleece cover needed. In spring (February onwards) the plants start to grow at 6-10 ¡ãC for flowering in May.

Fertilization:Moderate fertilization levels are required. Fertilize the crop weekly with 100-150 ppm nitrogen (at 2 kg/m3 slow release fertilizer in substrate), using a potassium balanced fertilizer (N: K2O-ratio: 1:1,5). Avoid high ammonium and high nitrogen levels. Don't fertilize after mid September. In spring fertilize with 130-150 ppm nitrogen using a complete balanced fertilizer. Prevent magnesium deficiency by applying magnesium sulphate (0,05 %) 1-2 times and in case of Iron deficiency apply iron-chelate for 1-2 times. The roots are sensitive to high salt levels in substrates. Avoid high fertilizer concentrations, it is advisable to fertilize several times with low concentrations weekly.

Cultural Hints:Dry, light and airy cultivation.
